Total Cooling Capacity
Applicability

All system types

Definition The installed cooling capacity of the project. This includes all:
  • Chillers;
  • Built-up DX; and,
  • Packaged cooling units.
Units Cooling tons (12,000 Btu/h per ton)
Input Restrictions As designed. This could be calculated by the program from the proposed design building description or a separate load calculation may be used. Unmet load hours for the simulation shall not exceed 300 annually. Weather conditions used in sizing runs shall be based on 1% dry-bulb and 1% wet-bulb cooling design temperatures.
Baseline Rules Autosize. The cooling capacity shall be oversized by 15%. If the number of unmet load hours of the proposed design exceeds the number of unmet load hours of the baseline by more than 50, decrease the cooling capacity as indicated in [bookref id="calculation-process-for-tax-deductions-and-green-building-ratings"] and [bookref id="procedure-for-adjusting-equipment-hvac-sizes-in-the-baseline-building"].
